Toddler Talk
This is the sequel class to Baby Talk. It covers speech and language developmental milestones from 12 months to 36 months and alerts parents to atypical patterns of development. Insight is provided into ways to increase language skills to ready the child for future academic success.
Brain Fitness
This class discusses the healthy and pathological aging brain. It presents the latest research on what happens to the brain as it ages, and what individuals can do to counteract and prevent these changes. An overview of the Brain Fitness program by Posit Science is presented.
FastForWord

Miracle of Reading
This class discusses the amazing process of reading, from its historical roots to today's academic and societal demands. It demonstrates the remarkable human ability to change the brains and acquire entirely new skills. The reading brain is markedly different from the non-reading brain. Taking this class results in a new appreciation of what it takes for an individual to learn to read; most will agree that reading is everything.
Reading 101
This class discusses the basic components of reading: phonemic awareness, decoding, phonics, comprehension, fluency, and appreciation of literature. It teaches how each of these parts must be integrated for the child to be able to read to learn. Reading problems and disorders are discussed as they pertain to each component of reading.
Vocabulary Development
This class highlights the importance of vocabulary development, one of the single most significant markers for future academic success. Vocabulary is critical for language development, an underlying factor for reading development and written language.
Autism Spectrum Disorders
This is a basic class on autism spectrum disorders. The different types of autism are defined and differentiated. The class discusses early warning signs of autism, the core deficits of autism, and how these impact all areas of the child's development.
COURSES
Mind Matters Clinics offers a seven-hour course for parents who have a child on the autism spectrum. This course is designed for parents who are on the waiting list for the autism waiver program. It teaches parents how create a therapy room/corner and how to do therapy at home while they are waiting for treatment. Registration is mandatory for this course. The fee is $500.00 per child, which includes two adults/parents.
Each family receives a binder with all the research, information, and therapy techniques included. The course runs for three weeks: each class is two hours in length, with the last hour to be individually scheduled with the child and the therapists. During that last hour, parents will have the opportunity of watching the therapists work with their child, demonstrating the techniques taught in class. Therapists will also watch parents work with their child and offer constructive suggestions.
By special arrangement, the class can be taught in its entirety in one day.
Mind Matters Clinics has taught the course in several locations around the state of Wisconsin and would be happy to bring it to your area.
